3D Text

This tutorial will teach you how to make 3D text. You may use the same technique with images instead of text too.

1) Create a new image, 500 by 100 pixels.
2) Select the Text tool and select a nice font like Arial and make it Bold. Preferably 36px in size.
3) Type something in the center of the document. It should look like this so far:

4) Right click the layer with your text and choose Rasterize Layer.
5) Skew the bottom so it is slightly bigger than the top. It should look like this now:

6) Click Filter, then Stylize, then Emboss and make the settings like this:
Angle: 90
Height: 5
Amount: 75

7) On the layer with your text, press CTRL, ALT, and the UP arrow at the same time about 10 times. It should look like this:

8) Press CTRL and E at the same time 10 times so the 3d-ness is all on one layer.
9) On the layers panel, press CTRL and click the layer with the 3D text to make a dotted outline.
10) Create a new layer on top of the layer with the 3D text.
11) With the new layer selected, change the layer type from Normal to Color on the top of the layers panel.
12) With the fill tool selected with a color of your choice, click inside of the dotted line. You now have color!
13) Press CTRL and D at the same time to get rid of the dotted line.
14) You can now add drop shadows, glows, overlays, and other cool effects like that to the new layer. Mine looks like this now:

And you’re done! See how easy and fun 3D stuff in Photoshop is?
